Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
Positive Care Ireland utilises Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) as it is a universally-recognised model within social care.
Cornell University developed the TCI Crisis prevention and intervention model for residential child care. The TCI system assists organisations in preventing crises from occurring, de-escalating potential crises, managing acute physical behaviour, reducing potential and actual injury to young people and staff, teaching young people adaptive coping skills and developing a learning organisation. This model gives an organisation a framework for implementing a crisis prevention and management system that reduces the need to rely on high risk interventions.
The safety of our young people and our staff is paramount to positive care and we train all of our staff in TCI. We have chosen to utilise this model to complement and enhance our existing Integrated Therapeutic Services in order to deliver High-impact Sector Leading Residential Child Care.
